Creative Schools
We applied for this project in June 2021 and got word in August that we were successful in our application. We have been assigned a professional artist who will work with both pupils and teachers over the coming months to develop a creative project that will involve all pupils in the school.
Creative Schools aims to give children and young people the opportunity to experience creativity as an integral part of their education placing the arts and creativity at the centre of school life. The aim of the scheme is to give pupils in schools all over the country the opportunity to work with a professional artist on unique projects, to be originated and planned between the artist, the teacher and the school, under the coordination of the the local Education Support Centre.
This project will continue into the new school year of 2022-2023. Further information regarding the project will be posted here.

Upcoming Projects
FÍS (literally translated from Irish as Vision) was officially launched in 2000. Tens of thousands of Irish primary school children have been involved in FÍS film making over the lifetime of the project. The project has demonstrated that film-making can provide creative, relevant and memorable learning experiences for children. What’s more, because of the collaborative nature of film-making, they develop communication, team working, decision making, problem solving as well as technical skills – all of which helps to prepare them for the future.
Lee Williamson Award Winning Film Maker to work with our pupils.
Which We are delighted to announce that our school will be working with award winning local film maker Lee Williamson as part of our BLAST artist initiative. Here is what Lee has to say about film making: 'I'm a creative individual with a passion for film, photography, the arts and the great outdoors. Telling stories through visual media is what drives me, and I find joy in editing and creating films that evoke emotion and capture the essence of a moment. I take pride in my accomplishments in cinematography and filmmaking, which have earned me awards in the industry. My goal is to continue growing and developing myself, as well as helping others to do the same. Which is why I am very excited to work with the pupils of Lanesborough Primary School. It is clear to me that the school values the importance of creative education and provides a supportive environment for their students to learn and grow. I am impressed by the school's commitment to fostering creativity and encouraging their students to think outside the box.' We cannot wait to see Lee foster our pupils creativity through the medium of film. Stay tuned to our Social Media for more updates! |
