There was great excitement in our school today when Joe O' Flaherty raised our Active Schools Flag. The whole school have played their part in achieving the Active Flag.
Well done everyone!
Well done everyone!
What is the Active Schools Flag?
The Active School Flag is awarded to schools that strive to achieve a physically educated and physically active school community. The process aims to get more schools, more active, more often.
Lanesborough Primary School are striving to achieve our first Active School Flag. A lot of work goes into creating a physically active school community. The Active schools committee, staff and children work together to ensure everyone accesses a broad and balanced PE curriculum. As part of the process we informed the Whole School Community to participate in the Active School Flag process.
Our Active Schools Slogan
No matter what your shape or size, come on,
Let's get some exercise.
Active Schools Committee
There are two representatives from each class from 1st to 6th class on our Active School committee.
There are two teachers involved in the Active School’s committee, the teachers involved are Mrs Rowan and Mr Corr. The committee meets regularly and decides on how best to promote physical activity in the school. The committee decides what needs to be done and who is going to do it. They update the active schools board and check the suggestion folder regularly. They do a great job encouraging and motivating the whole school community!
