Digital Schools of Europe Award

Our school was delighted to be awarded the Digital Schools of Europe award in recognition of excellence in integrating Digital Technologies in Teahing and Learning.
The Digital schools of Europe award is the only award in Europe that contains the European Commission logo and consequently Ireland and Lanesborough Primary school are one of the first countries and schools anywhere in Europe to receive this award. Dublin West Education Centre is the only education centre in Europe with permission to use the European Commission logo – this logo is associated with excellence and is only used for outstanding programmes of merit within the European Union.

Digital Learning

Pupils from 3rd to 6th class engage in a seven week course of ICT classes. The pupils enjoy small group lessons where learn some basic computing skills such as typing and word processing and creating documents in Microsoft Word, creating animated presentations in Microsoft Powerpoint and creating graphs and using data in Microsoft Excel. They learn to access the internet in a safe and controlled environment.

Samples of Work

Below are some examples of the presentations the senior room pupils created following project work on the Aztecs in SESE with Mr Corr.

Green Screen Technology

Recently our school has purchased a green screen background and stand. Being able to place themselves within differnt environments is very beneficial to their learning.
These three videos above are part of our application process for the Blue Star Flag award.
I rang a cúig agus a sé bhain siad usáid as éifeacht speisialta leis an gclár glas chun cuairt a tabhairt ar áiteanna difriúla.
