Upcoming Projects

Creative Schools

Picture
We applied for this project in June 2021 and got word in August that we were successful in our application. We have been assigned a professional artist who will work with both pupils and teachers over the coming months to develop a creative project that will involve all pupils in the school.
Creative Schools aims to give children and young people the opportunity to experience creativity as an integral part of their education placing the arts and creativity at the centre of school life. The aim of the scheme is to give pupils in schools all over the country the opportunity to work with a professional artist on unique projects, to be originated and planned between the artist, the teacher and the school, under the coordination of the the local Education Support Centre.

BLAST!

Picture
The Department of Education has developed a new innovative Arts-in-Education BLAST Residency Programme in 2021, which will enable up to 400 new Arts-in-Education Residencies in schools each year. BLAST allows schools the opportunity to work with an artist on a specific project and is funded by the local Education Centre.
Lanesborough Primary School has been awarded a fully funded 20-hour BLAST Artist in residency opportunity via the new BLAST Arts in Education Residency Programme 2021/2022.  The timeframe for completion of the Residency is November 2021 to end of March 2022.

Amber Flag

Picture
The Pieta Amber Flag Initiative recognises the individual efforts of primary and secondary schools, youthreach, third level institutions, community groups and clubs to create healthy, inclusive environments that support mental well-being.
Lanesborough Primary School will be applying for the Pieta Amber Flag during this school year. We hope to be involved in initiatives throughout the school year that promote well-being and positive mental health.

Digital School of Europe

Picture
The Digital Schools of Europe project aims to enhance digital integration in learning, teaching, training and youth work at various levels throughout the EU.
Lanesborough Primary School will be applying for this prestigious award during this school year. We hope to integrate our teaching and learning with digital technology which we hope will lead to and enhanced experience for both pupils and teachers.

Blue Star Flag

The Blue Star Flag is an education initiative for primary school pupils across Ireland. The idea of the Programme is simple: to foster better understanding and knowledge of the European Union and how it affects the lives of Irish citizens among primary pupils through classroom projects and activities.
