The 5th and 6th class children had a great time running our annual cake and jumble sale! Many thanks to all the children and parents who baked so many tasty and scrumptious treats for the cake sale as well as donating all the toys, books, games etc for the jumble sale! All proceeds raised will be donated to charity.
Great fun was had by all at this years Garda Sport's Day in Longford Slashers. The children enjoyed a wide variety of activities! Many thanks to all the volunteers who helped to make it such a fun day! A huge congratulations to the children of 5th and 6th class who performed so well at this years final assembly. The children spent many hours rehearsing for the big day and once again displayed the many hidden talents that they possess! Well done everyone!! On Thursday 11th and Friday 12th of May the children enjoyed participating in Bizworld. They had great fun learning about what it takes to set up and run their own business. Children worked in groups to create and design their own businesses before presenting their business plans to the Dragons! Well done to all our budding young entrepreneurs!!
A huge thank you to Mark from Biodiversity in Schools who taught us all about the different types of bees found in Ireland. We learned about the job of a beekeeper and even got to try on a beekeeper's suit! We got to see the inside of a hive and learned about the hard job that bees have in making honey, (it takes one honey bee a year to make less than a teaspoon of honey!!) Mark showed us how to make biodegradable flowerpots out of newspaper and we planted some sunflower seeds in them! Finally we went out in search of some bees and amazingly managed to locate the rare solitary bee as well as a pretty huge bumblebee! After our extensive work on anti-bullying, the children of 5th and 6th class had great fun making a movie to highlight the importance of respect and kindness towards everyone. We also hope our movie encourages children to speak out and stand up against bullying.
Fifth and sixth class pupils will perform at Assembly this month. We will be reciting a poem and performing a body percussion composition. |
