Infants, 1st & 2nd will hold their Spooktacular Assembly on Wednesday October 23rd at 1pm in St Mary's Hall.. Watch out for the Skeleton Dance.
School closes for Hallowe'en Mid-Term on Friday October 25th. School reopens on Monday November 4th. We would like to wish everyone an enjoyable Hallowe'en break. Please keep safe.
On Friday October 25th all are invited to come to school in fancy dress to mark the festival of Hallowe'en. The Annual Credit Union Art Competition will run again this year. The theme this year is 'Walk of Life'. The art has to be drawn on A3 paper and be of portrait orientation.Pupil entry forms will be sent home as written permission is required for all entries. All entries to be submitted to the Credit Union office on Friday Oct 25th.
The present Board of Management of Lanesborough Primary School will expire on 30/11/2019 and a new Board of Management takes up office on 01/12/2019. Stage one of the process of electing parent representatives is now complete. We now move to Stage 2 of the process, which is the nominations phase. Please check bags on Monday for information regarding this stage of the process. Nominations to be returned to the school on or before Thursday October 24th 2019.
As part of the Active Schools Initiative, we have signed up for the GAA 5 Star Programme. This initiative aims to support and recognise Primary Schools that provide pupils with moderate to vigorous Gaelic Games activity during their PE schedule in a manner that ensures the children will experience fun, friendship, fairness and ultimately improve their fitness. Recognition as a “GAA 5 Star Centre” is awarded to Primary Schools that undertake to deliver a programme of Gaelic Games activity that is age-appropriate and meets the developmental needs of children within the school.
Food Dudes begins on Tuesday next October 15th for Infants, 1st & 2nd class.It begins on Friday Oct 25th for classes 3rd - 6th. This initiative is being run in conjunction with our Healthy Lunches Policy.Food Dudes will run for 16 days. During this time children will be offered a portion of fruit and vegetable to taste each day. We are asking that all parents encourage their children to sample the food. A food diary will be sent home so that children can record their fruit and veg intake at home.
Lanesborough Primary School will be taking part in the Active Schools Flag Initiative this year. This initiative is a Department of Education & Skills initiative which aims to get more schools more active more often. It is awarded to schools that strive to achieve a physically educated and physical active school community. An Active School Committee will be selected which will be involved in programmes that will be rolled out throughout the year.
Christmas Cards templates have been sent home this week. Please return them to the school on Wednesday October 7th.
